🌿 Caveneer Devlog — Foliage, Combat, and UI Overhaul!
Hey adventurers!
This latest update to Caveneer is packed with quality-of-life improvements, visual polish, and gameplay features that make your descent into the unknown even more immersive and satisfying. Here's what's new:
🌱 Foliage & World Updates
-
Foliage Update – More Natural Spawning!
The world now feels more alive, with more foliage spawning across the landscape. Caves, forests, and surface areas are richer with vegetation, enhancing exploration and ambiance. -
More Tile Variants
We’ve expanded the variety of tiles used in the environment. Expect greater visual diversity in caves and biomes, helping each area feel more distinct and memorable. -
Rooms Now Track Cleared Status
Once you clear a room of enemies, it will now remember its cleared state, shown clearly on the minimap — great for tracking your progress through labyrinthine areas! -
Enemies Track You Smarter
Enemies now follow the player when in view and will continue pursuit until you leave the chunk — giving combat a more tense and dynamic feel.
⚔️ Combat and Gameplay Tweaks
-
Heavy Attack System
We’ve added a Heavy Attack mechanic for stronger, more deliberate hits. Perfect for finishing blows or breaking through tougher foes. -
Wider Crit Randomization
Critical hits now feel less predictable and more exciting, with increased variance and a wider window of impact. -
Bosses Regenerate if You Leave Their Room
Leaving a boss room mid-fight? They'll reset. Come prepared and commit to the battle! -
Stick No Longer Shows Slash
For clarity and realism, sticks now behave as blunt tools, no longer displaying slash visuals. -
Lower Player Height
The player's model has been slightly lowered to better fit the visual style and improve collision accuracy.
🛠️ Interface, Inventory & Menus
-
UI & Settings Overhaul
We’ve redesigned the user interface and settings menu to be cleaner, faster, and more intuitive. -
Crafting Menu Darkens Inactive Items
Inactive items in the crafting menu are now visually dimmed, making it easier to see what you can craft at a glance. -
Inventory Overhaul: More Slots + Quick Drop!
-
More inventory slots for longer journeys.
-
Hold the drop button to throw away multiple items quickly. No more dragging one at a time!
-
-
Inventory Count Added (Bottom Right)
A subtle but useful improvement — your item count now appears in the bottom right of your inventory.
🔊 Audio & Technical Improvements
-
New “mistake.ogg” Track
A new eerie audio track has been added to certain moments. You’ll know when you hear it. 👀 -
More Sound Effects
Various interactions and environmental elements now have their own sound cues, bringing the world to life. -
Removed Unnecessary Fades in Menus
Menu transitions are now snappier, getting you into gameplay faster by removing sluggish fade effects. -
Camera No Longer Lerps
The camera now follows the player without smoothing delay, offering more precise and responsive control. -
Seed Selector Added
Want a specific world layout? You can now enter a seed before generating your world.
🖥️ Bug Fixes & Optimization
-
Movement Jitter Fix
Resolved a bug causing the player to jitter while moving in certain areas. -
Minimized Crash Fix (Windows)
We've fixed a crash that occurred for some Windows users when minimizing the game window.
